PETYCJA O ZMIANĘ NAZWY „UNIWERSYTET VIZJA” NA PROFESJONALNĄ I GODNĄ UCZELNI WYŻSZEJ

Szanowni Państwo,

Jako studenci Akademii Ekonomiczno-Humanistycznej w Warszawie, zwracamy się z ogromną prośbą o poparcie naszej inicjatywy mającej na celu ponowne rozpatrzenie i zmianę nowej nazwy uczelni z „Uniwersytet VIZJA” na nazwę bardziej profesjonalną, reprezentatywną i budzącą zaufanie w środowisku akademickim i zawodowym – zarówno w Polsce, jak i za granicą.

Do niedawna byliśmy dumni, studiując na Akademii Ekonomiczno-Humanistycznej w Warszawie (AEH) – uczelni, która ma dużą rozpoznawalność na rynku pracy, szczycącą się ambitnym programem i znakomitą kadrą dydaktyczną. Zmiana nazwy na „Uniwersytet VIZJA” została jednak wprowadzona bez szerokiej konsultacji ze społecznością akademicką – studentami, absolwentami i wykładowcami – i wywołała ogromne poruszenie oraz głęboki sprzeciw. Uważamy, że tak daleko idąca zmiana będzie ze szkodą dla absolwentów.

Dlaczego się sprzeciwiamy?

• Nazwa „VIZJA” brzmi niepoważnie i nieprofesjonalnie – wielu z nas wprost określa ją jako wstydliwą i „memiczną”, kojarzącą się bardziej z Collegium Humanum, niż poważnym uniwersytetem.

• Obawiamy się, że dyplom z „Uniwersytetu VIZJA” będzie postrzegany z przymrużeniem oka przez rekruterów i pracodawców, co może realnie zaszkodzić naszej pozycji na rynku pracy.

• Wielu studentów wyraża żal i złość, że rozpoczęli naukę na AEH, a skończą na uczelni, której nazwa ich nie reprezentuje i której się wstydzą. To krzywdzące wobec tych, którzy od lat budowali swoje CV, zakładając dyplom z poważnie brzmiącej uczelni.

• Wizerunkowo nowa nazwa pozbawia nas tożsamości akademickiej, podważa zaufanie do jakości kształcenia i jest niezrozumiała – szczególnie dla środowiska międzynarodowego, które równie dobrze mogłoby posługiwać się oficjalnym tłumaczeniem istniejącej wcześniej nazwy.

• W obecnym brzmieniu „VIZJA” nie oddaje profilu uczelni – ekonomiczno-humanistycznego – i budzi niejasne skojarzenia, niekiedy wręcz ośmieszające.

Doceniamy wszelkie wysiłki władz uczelni w dążeniu do uzyskania statusu uniwersytetu, ale jesteśmy głęboko przekonani, że zmiana nazwy nie powinna oznaczać utraty powagi i profesjonalizmu.

Dlatego domagamy się:

• Przywrócenia lub zmodyfikowania obecnej nazwy w sposób, który zachowa profesjonalizm i akademicki charakter uczelni, np. Uniwersytet Ekonomiczno-Humanistyczny w Warszawie lub Uniwersytet AEH,

• Rozpoczęcia realnego dialogu z całą społecznością akademicką w sprawie nowej nazwy, która będzie godnie reprezentować studentów, absolwentów i kadrę naukową.

Podpisując tę petycję, wyrażamy stanowczy sprzeciw wobec obecnej nazwy „Uniwersytet VIZJA” i apelujemy o jej zmianę. Zależy nam na jakości kształcenia, ale równie mocno – na prestiżu dyplomu, który będziemy prezentować przez całe życie.

Dear fellow students,

As students of the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw (Akademia Ekonomiczno-Humanistyczna w Warszawie), we are reaching out with an urgent request for your support in our initiative to reconsider and change the newly introduced name of our university – “VIZJA University” – to a more professional, representative, and trustworthy title that will be respected in both academic and professional circles, in Poland and abroad.

Until recently, we were proud to study at the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw (AEH) – an institution recognized in the job market, known for its ambitious academic programs and excellent teaching staff. However, the change of name to “VIZJA University” was implemented without broad consultation with the academic community – students, alumni, and faculty members – and has triggered widespread concern and strong opposition. We believe that such a significant change will be detrimental to current and future graduates.

Why are we opposed to the change?

The name “VIZJA” sounds unserious and unprofessional – many of us describe it as embarrassing and “meme-worthy,” associating it more with a diploma mill like Collegium Humanum than a respectable university.

We fear that a diploma from “VIZJA University” will be met with skepticism by recruiters and employers, potentially harming our job prospects and professional credibility.

Many students feel frustrated and betrayed that they began their studies at AEH and will graduate from an institution whose name does not represent them and of which they are ashamed. This is unfair to those who have spent years building their CVs under the assumption of graduating from a university with a serious and established reputation.

From a branding perspective, the new name strips us of our academic identity, undermines trust in the quality of education, and lacks clarity – especially for the international community, which could easily have used the official English translation of the former name.

“VIZJA” does not reflect the economic and humanistic profile of the university and evokes vague or even ridiculed associations.

We appreciate the university administration’s efforts in achieving university status, but we strongly believe that such name change should not come at the cost of professionalism and academic integrity.

Therefore, we demand:

• The reinstatement or thoughtful modification of the university's name in a way that maintains its professional and academic character – for example, University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw.

• The initiation of a genuine dialogue with the entire academic community regarding the new name, one that will represent students, alumni, and academic staff with dignity and respect.

By signing this petition, we express our firm opposition to the current name “VIZJA University” and urge its reconsideration. While we care deeply about the quality of education, we care just as much about the prestige of the diploma we will carry throughout our professional lives.
